    Yes (compared to the cost of education in India). The yearly cost varies from $15,000 - $45,000, depending on the college, subject you study, etc.

    Is it difficult to get US-visa for studying in the US?

    Once you get admission and receive the I-20 form, and you have enough proof to establish that you have enough funds to support your education, getting the visa should not be a problem.

    When should one apply to US colleges?

    Normally you need to complete your application process by 31st of December for admission in the fall semester.

    Can I appear for SAT test more than once?

    Yes, you can. The colleges will consider the best score.

    Do I need a passport for SAT tests?

    Yes. You need valid passport for appearing SAT and TOEFL tests.

    How much is the registration fee for the SAT reasoning test (SAT I)?

    SAT Reasoning Test fees for students from India will be around $85. The fees may change. Please check College Board website.

    How much is the registration fee for the SAT subject test (SAT II)?

    The Registration fee for the SAT Subject Test is $18.00. For Language test (with listening) per subject cost is $19.00 and for other areas per subject the cost is $8.00. The fees may change. Please check College Board website.

    How important is the college search process, before registering for SAT Tests?

    It is important. While registering for SAT Tests you can mention the names of four colleges, where the scores will be sent by the College Board free of cost. If you want to send scores to more colleges, you can do so by paying a fee of around $9.50 per college. The fees may change. Please check College Board website.

    Am I allowed to send SAT scores to colleges directly?

    No. Colleges will accept scores sent by College Board only. Same rule is followed by colleges for TOEFL score.

    Is it necessary to take both SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Test?

    Most of the colleges will ask for the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I) scores. There are few colleges where SAT Subject Tests (SAT II) scores are asked for.

    How important is my school scores while applying to US colleges?

    Those are important, but colleges also expect recommendations from the school teachers e.g. class teacher, subject teacher, etc.

    Can I expect financial aid from college?

    Yes you can. Most of the colleges offer financial help to students in some form. It can be need based or merit based. But, you must qualify for the aid.

    How much financial aid one can expect from a college?

    It can cover full tuition, boarding and lodging cost or it can cover full tuition only or it can meet a portion of your total cost.
